Registering cool ideas and names as domain name was a thing in 2000s. I used to do it often. When ever I think of a new idea i instantly visit bustaname or godaddy or google domains to check for domain availability. Just like that I owned a domain called “dstream.app” and even listed it for sale in Flippa by paying some fees. Unfortunately it never sold and I forgot to renew the domain. Boom. Now someone registered that exact domain and launched a startup. Looks like they have waited a long to get the domain go expired and they are lucky that I forgot to renew as well.
I still own some cool (for me) names and just enabled “auto renew” for all. Lets hope either I launch those ideas or atleast sell them.
I just figured I forgot to renew an another domain before a year. Luckily it is available to register again. and also godaddy temporarily renewed another cool domain of mine. Just paid for that too. All happened today while Im typing this post. ЁЯЩВ
